The Regathering Project
The idea for this project began in 2021, in reaction to an increasingly disconnected world and its consequences, which impact all of us. Efforts to reconnect with others and to regather have become especially important in the battle to overcome the isolation affecting every aspect our culture–and we want to encourage those efforts. Our hope for the project is:
- To inform and raise awareness of the problem and the need to take action.
- To inspire optimism and hope, instead of dwelling on all that is wrong.
- To instigate action. Our goal is to see project visitors and readers become participants in the solution.
- To become a gathering place for ideas as well as people. As we collectively experiment with new approaches to connecting and gathering, this project can become a forum to share, discuss, and learn together.
- To become an incubator for a movement, a supportive environment for those dedicated to regather and reconnect people in our increasingly lonely world.
Patrick Klingaman

“I believe that great ideas, brought to light and life, have the power to change our world.”
Before founding The Regathering Project, Patrick had a varied career spanning a number of fields, including writing (from blogs to books), marketing, teaching, micro-entrepreneur–even serving on a local church staff as Coordinator of Ministries. What drove most of his career choices was the desire to work with meaningful ideas and help bring them to fruition.
The Regathering Project started as a few lines of thought in Patrick’s idea brainstorming notebook in 2021. Although he was convinced that the need to bring people together had rarely been greater, he was unsure of how well he fit with the project. Sure, Patrick has been continually involved with starting, joining, facilitating, and growing small groups of many kinds. Yet, as far as close individual relationships go, his long-term record (except for his marriage) isn’t great–plus he might be one of the world’s worst at professional networking.
Despite these shortcomings, the nudge to pursue the project persisted. Patrick has attempted to design project efforts in such a way as to gather ideas from everyone possible (including you!) so that any individual shortcomings will be limited.
